But before that, it was often our fathers who gave us our first taste of structure and sacrifice, waking early, speaking with respect, aiming high, and never backing down from a challenge. Whether military men themselves or civilians who instilled military values, our fathers were our original role models in leadership, grit, and selflessness.

Their strength was quiet. Their sacrifices often unseen. Yet the evidence is in the men we’ve become — principled, persevering, and proud.

A Word for Those Missing Their Fathers

For some of us, Father’s Day carries a bittersweet note. We remember dads who are no longer with us, their laughter, their warnings, their stories. We honour them not only with our memories but with the lives we live. Their principles live on in our decisions, their faith in our perseverance.
